Indexing

I have heard about indexing for years. I finally got an account this month. I tell ya...indexing is fun! I love being able to do family history work right here in my house! To be honest...I haven't done much family history work ever.

I read about the 1940 census being released....and since I love that "era"...I wanted to be able to help.

Indexing is totally easy. I have worked on a few baptism record cards...and a few death certificates...and a lot of draft cards. It's fun...and interesting. Today I was working on some draft cards and there was a family of 5 or 6 men who were signing up...and all of them but one had their birthday in October. Last week I did a death certificate for a baby boy who only lived a day. He didn't have a name.

I love listening to the Mormon Music Channel! Makes sense cuz I am Mormon and I love music! (click on "music" under the "live stream" heading).

The three oldest kids are out in the back yard making mud even though I asked them to not make mud today. I am choosing to ignore it which means I can't get mad at the mess they will make when they come inside. I shouldn't get mad at stuff like that anyways. But there will be 3 little kids cleaning up mud later that's for sure!

The "bug man" (aka Joey Neff who has been our Bug Man for 6 years) came to spray the house today. Things are starting to warm up and I don't want any little critters thinking that they are invited inside. A good dose of poison might teach them that lesson....for good. (That sounds so mean...but I really can't stand having bugs in the house...I am sure Heavenly Father understands...after all...He did send seagulls to eat up crickets right?)

My dad is still in the hospital. Still not sure where his infection is coming from. I think it is from the gall stone that is in his small bile duct. Just hoping the infection will clear up. But then again...if his health gets worse, they will bump him up and the transplant list.

I finally downloaded the indexing software from Family Search yesterday. I worked of a few batches. It was pretty fun. Although, I think next time I get an image that is faded, I will send it back. I was praying to know what letters were...and I am just not sure if I got a couple of the last names right. I did a little of the 1940 Census Index Simulation. Looks like it'll be quite the project. I am excited to help with it.

Well. The boys are back. They are muddy and hitting the shower. I have to go do Adelin's hair for school and I still need to get in some exercise today.

Rescued

I have been rescued.

In the dark of night and on my knees
He has rescued me.

My Great-Aunt Deanna likes to have me write little poems for her that she gives to people along with whatever little crafty thing she has made. I never save these little poems...and she gets after me for that...often. SO...because she is older and certainly wiser...I am going to start saving them.

 

Conversation



After dropping Adelin off at school, the boys and I went and dropped a few bills in the mail at the post office.

Have I mentioned that Weston talks a lot? Well, he does and he asks random questions right out of no where.

So, after dropping the bills in the mail, Weston asked. "What about Grandpa's liver?" I said, "What about it?" And this is the conversation that followed.

W: "Did he get a new one?"

M: "No, not yet."

W: "What if he doesn't get a new one and he dies?"

M: "Well. Then that means that Heavenly Father needed for him to die. But we hope that he will get a new liver and get healthy again."

W: "If he dies then I can't hug him anymore."

M: "Nope. After you die your body gets buried. You'd have to wait for The Resurrection"

W: "How do you get the bodies out of the ground when they are resurrected?"

M: "I'm not sure. But Heavenly Father knows"

W: "Yeah cuz Heavenly Father knows everything"

M: "He does. He just doesn't tell us everything all at once."

W: "Well. He can't talk to us to tell us things because we aren't by Him."

M: "He can tell you things....if you pray...and listen to the feelings in your heart and the good thoughts in your mind."

W: "..........maybe I can get one of those heart listener things to help me."

:) I thought that was cute. Don't you just love when you get to have these kinds of conversations with your kids?

Weston's joke:

"Mom. How do you fit a cow into the refrigerator?"

Me: "I don't know"

"First you open the door...then you take the horse out, then you put the cow in"


I am sure he heard that somewhere. It was cute when he said it though....especially since he has a hard time pronouncing his "r" sound. (like I did at his age) :)

Hot Coco Cake~(since we don't drink coffee!)

(this is not my cake...looks good though right?)

This is easy and good! I actually made this for the first time 10 years ago probably and haven't made it since....until today.
I was going to take it over to a surprise birthday breakfast for my neighbor. I got a phone call inviting me to it last night (don't know her, or the person who called really...but they are in my ward and I thought it was so thoughtful that I was invited). Anyhow. I found this recipe last night while I was looking for something that I could take to the breakfast. Then...my morning didn't go so hot. The kids fought. I got cranky and decided to skip the party but still make the cake. :) That's something I can do without having to shower, get myself spiffied up and get 3 kids ready...by 9a.m. (if those ladies are going to be my friends...they will have to learn to never invite me to go somewhere that early! lol...j/k)
Anyhow...this post is really about the coffee cake....not my rough start to this new week! So here it is.

Coffee Cake

1 cup pancake mix

1/3 cup milk

1/3 cup sugar

1 egg

1/4 cup melted butter

Mix together & pour into greased 8 inch round pan. Mix ingredients for topping (double topping recipe if you want more crumblies on top or for in the middle). Sprinkle over top of batter and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.

Topping

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup flour

1/4 tsp cinnamon

2 TBS melted butter

Try it...you'll like it. Your kids will too.
