my big birthday donut

I was driving to pick Kaitlyn up from school yesterday when all of a sudden a donut sounded so good to me! I knew that I shouldn't go get some and then eat cake later....so I did what an sensible woman would do. I called Brandon with a birthday request...DONUTS instead of cake....and boy did he deliver! He came home with this...

It's called a "Texas Donut"...I guess because 'everything's bigger in Texas'? It's about the size of 4 donuts. I can honestly say that I didn't eat one whole donut yesterday....but I did eat half of this one! :)

*Thank you for all the Happy Birthday wishes...it was so fun to get phone calls almost all day long! I felt so special!*

P.S. Weston just came up to me holding a paper clip in his hand (as if it were some sort of amazing device) and said, "I am going to check if you are stupid mom". LOL!.....can I borrow that paper clip when you are done bud?

I sure hope I am not jinxing myself by saying this....but Weston has gone to sleep in his bed by himself the past two nights. Some of you probably know what a big deal that is because you have kids who stay up late, fall asleep in your bed then get carried into theirs. Or one of us will stay up with him on the couch and he will fall asleep watching TV. Either way, it gets old.

Last night, Kaitlyn went to sleep, then we put Addie to bed (she takes forever to fall asleep..."it's too noisy" "I need a band aide" "my blankets are messed up") then I put Weston in his bed. He only got out a few times. I laid down on my bed and Brandon, bless his heart was rubbing my sore sore feet. (I had gone for a walk with Addie and I didn't wear the right kind of shoes). I started coughing a little and Weston yelled from his bed, "Mom! Are you alright?" It was so sweet. I assured him that I was fine (yelled that from my bed) and told him I loved him. His little "I love you too" could melt the coldest of hearts!

Cross your fingers for me that he keeps on wanting to be a big boy and sleep in his own bed. It'll make life that much easier when Connor is born.

I turn 30 this week. For some reason that didn't feel old to me until last night. Brandon was very sneaky and threw me a party! He even got my parents and Grandpa Newbold up here with out me suspecting that they were here for anyting more than to play with our kids! (Plus, I had asked my mom to bring her sewing machine so that we could get some curtains up to hide all the stuff on the shelves in our laundry/pantry room....she told me yesterday that she wanted to tell me no because she didn't think there would be time with the party and all...but she brought it anyways...and we got the curtains up! We ended up buying some and hemming them...it was cheaper than way.....and Brandon had let me buy a big thing of ice cream Friday night knowing full well that he had two huger things of if hiden in the freezer at his mom's house!) Dawniel was in on it too. Brandon organized the whole thing which makes him the best husband ever to even think about htrowing me a party let a lone to follow through with it! I had told him while we were eating dinner Saturdy night (part of the plan to get me out of the way) that I was pretty lame for not throwing him a 30th birthday party. Now I feel a little lamer.

The cake is what made me feel old. I of course didn't know about the party (it was at Brandon's moms house) so I didn't take a camera. But to see my name on the cake with the big "Three-O" made me feel like I have been around for a long time. I know I am still a "spring chicken" so to speak....but the effects of getting older are already making themselves known! Thank goodness for make up, well structured clothing and padded support bras!

Call me "cheap" or call me a "tight wad"...but who doesn't LOVE to save money!? Saving money makes me happy. I realize that you are only saving money if you are buying things that you would be buying anyways...and that's what happened today! (Woohoo!)

So...we're in need of some new dressers around our house. We need one for the baby. Plus, Adelin's (that I picked up for 30 bucks at a thrift store and refinished) only has half of it's drawers that work now. Kaitlyn's is in relatively good condition...all the drawers work fine. I might think about holding onto that one unless I find someone who could really use it. (Let me know if that 'some one' is you!) We got that one for free from my cousin. It was a light wood, sort of banged up a little with some dings and scratches...but I gave it a fresh slap of white paint and we've been good to go for the past 5 years with that one! Anyhow! I found these dressers online. I looked around for the best price...and Kmart was the winner! Then I found a coupon code to save $30 off the purchase....but the shipping was still making the total pretty high. So...I decided to order the three dressers seperately and use the promo code three different times! I wasn't sure if the site would let me...but it did! I saved 60 bucks! (woot woot!) Of course we have to assemble them...but we've assembled (okay, Brandon has assembled) 98% of our furniture so he's pretty good at it! Plus, it gives him a chance to break out the power tools! Oh! I found this song called "Held". I don't remember ever hearing it before....or ever hearing of Natalie Grant. I am wondering if she is related to Amy Grant. The messages in their music are similar.
Anyhow.
 I thought this song was so good...I had to share. I listened to some of her other songs and found her blog. I don't really like the rock-n-roll sort of Christian music...but I liked her slow pretty songs.
